Andrea Aldridge, CERC BME worker, is originally from the United States. Although she has been married to a UK citizen and living in England for over thirteen years, she has never exercised her right to become a UK national and hold a passport issued from the UK.
The rights of East European migrants (also referred to as A8 nationals) will be brought in line with the rights of other EU nationals. The broadly criticised Worker Registration Scheme will be discontinued.
