Pilgrimage Fundraising Walk around Britian for ‘Mind and Pain Concern’

 Buddhist Pilgrimage

Tim Hagyard is walking around Britain on a long walk of pilgrimage to many holy and sacred sites around the UK, to fundraise for Mind and Pain Concern, until June 2013.

On 19 April he was joined in Kendal by the Bhikkhu [Buddhist Monk] Thanavaro from Amaravati Forest Monastery in Hertfordshire They will walk together for a month from Kendal up to Iona and then back to Edinburgh.

On 19 April Bhikkhu Thanavaro led a discussion with BGKT Buddhist Group of Kendal (Theravada).

Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service ‘Mindfulness’ Session

 Buddhist Fire

Venerable Pidiville Piyatissa Head of Ketumati Buddhist Vihara Oldham, led a session on mindfulness, for CFRS Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service personnel and Cumbria Ambulance Service personnel, at Kendal Fire Station on 19th April 2013.

The meeting was chaired by Suzanne Wainwright (Community Safety Coordinator at Kendal Fire Station). Attendees included Venerable Kirimetiyane Dhammika from Ketumati Buddhist Vihara, Simone Garnett (BME Advocate Kendal Fire Station) and members of BGKT Buddhist Group of Kendal (Theravada) including Jacquetta Gomes Bodhicarini Upasika Jayasili Advisor on Interfaith and Multifaith to Fire Officer Daryl Oprey CFOA Chief Fire Officers Association Lead on Equality & Diversity and CFOA E & D Group.
