Rheged Centre, Penrith - Friday 30 March, 10am to 3pm

Carers conference focuses on mental health

Carers of people experiencing mental health problems will be attending an inspirational conference later this month (30 March) to learn about the future development of mental health services in the county.

The conference - Carers included: Improving Mental Health Services - is being held jointly by Cumbria County Council and Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust at the Rheged Discovery Centre near Penrith on Friday 30 March (10am to 3pm).

It will include a key-note speech and a staged drama from theatre training company AFTA Thought - a team of consultants, writers and actors who for more than 20 years have inspired people to think differently through drama and bringing subjects to life.

The aim of the event is both to inform carers regarding changes to personalised services for them and the people they care for and also for us to gather the views of carers to help us improve mental health services in the future.

As well as carers of people with mental health problems, professional practitioners who support carers have also been invited to attend the conference.

For more details on the event please contact Simone Eagling at simone.eagling@cumbria.nhs.uk or 01228 602012.
