LGBT Pride Month
Gay and Lesbian Pride Month is celebrated each year for the month of June. The last Sunday in June is celebrated as Gay Pride Day. On 2 June 2000, President Bill Clinton declared June "Gay & Lesbian Pride Month".[1] In 2009[2], 2010[3], and 2011[4] U.S. President Barack Obama declared June to be Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Month, stating, "I call upon all Americans to observe this month by fighting prejudice and discrimination in their own lives and everywhere it exists.” The month was chosen to commemorate the 1969 Stonewall riots in Greenwich Village that sparked the modern LGBT liberation movement in the United States.
This month is meant to recognize the impact gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and intersex people have had on the world. GLBT groups celebrate with pride parades, picnics, parties, memorials for those lost from hate crimes, and other group gathering events that attract thousands upon thousands of individuals.
InterPride, the International Association of Pride Organizers, was founded in 1982 and has grown to encompass pride events around the world throughout the year. Although June remains the primary month for pride events the annual calendar shows events in most months.

Google mark Pride month by adding rainbow flag to search bar
Internet search engine Google marked Pride month by adding a rainbow flag to its search bar.
The design (pictured) appeared next to the interactive search box when users type in the words 'gay' or 'lesbian' or ‘pride'.
Google Operating System said in a blog post: "It's not the first June when Google changes the search results interface when you search for [gay] and other related terms.
"While in 2009 and 2010 Google added a colorful bar below the search box, this year there's a rainbow next to the search box."
Previously, Google have been vocal about supporting the repeal of Proposition 8, which bans Same Sex Marriage in America and recently produced a video in support of the It Gets Better campaign, which is designed to inspire hope for young people facing harrassment and to help young people see how love and happiness can be a reality in their future and to get support from allies.

Pride London Festival Fortnight
The two week programme of music, theatre, dance, comedy, visual arts, sport, debate, film, fashion, and participation and literature events takes place every year all across London.
Pride London is proud to support UK premieres, new writing and a 48 hour film festival. They have even hosted their own variety gala at Leicester Square Theatre, participation events in one of London's best kept secret galleries 10 Gales.
There was a stack of prizes and freebies around but you had to go to an event to find out more.

About Pride London Festival Fortnight
The Pride London Festival Fortnight started in 2006 when London hosted EuroPride. It was a highly successful Festival with over 100 shows. There have been several other festival events in subsequent years but in 2009 there was really something for everyone as they introduced a new model. Pride London are laying the groundwork and begin preparations for hosting World Pride in 2012 and are looking for creative partners, contributors and sponsors. This is the key objective of the Festival that is ongoing. With the opportunity to showcase LGBT Arts and Culture in the Capital; such a forum will set this as the only kind of event in the UK and is set to be the BIGGEST LGBT FESTIVAL that London has seen. Time Out Pride Power List 2011
The publishers of the official Pride London magazine have compiled a list of the 100 most influential LGBT people in the UK.
The Pride Power List bills itself as an alternative to The Independent's annual Pink List. Publisher Linda Riley explains, ‘We felt there was a need for a list that involved a greater variety of sources that represent the gay community. We have tried to make it more public-oriented by asking the advice of a wider selection of people and organisations. The original top 300 were sourced by various people, who were given the chance to submit their favourites. This means there are entries that aren't necessarily known to the wider public and not necessarily famous, such as business professionals. The list celebrates those who have contributed through their work to the LGBT community and/or have influence on the LGBT community by being inspirational role models.'
The final list of 100 was decided by judges Ben Summerskill, chief executive of Stonewall; Angela Eagle, MP for Wallasey and one of only two out lesbian MPs; and Linda Riley, managing director of Square Peg Media (publisher of Pride London).
