Cumbria Pride 2011 Radio Interview Update - 16 June

Translate

A gay pride event due to be held in Carlisle's Bitts Park in October has been moved indoors.

Organisers say it has been switched to the Swallow Hilltop Hotel on London Road for logistical reasons and because of concerns about the weather.

The colourful event, which will still be held on October 1, aims to promote diversity in the county and it is hoped people of all sexual orientations will attend.

It will be the first Pride celebration on this scale held in Cumbria.

There will also be a £10 admission charge.

Richard Kavanagh from Outreach Cumbria discussed the changes to Cumbria Pride and the current climate for LGBT people in Cumbria in a radio interview on the Mike Parr Breakfast Show on BBC Radio Cumbria on 16 June 2011.
