Films about Equality and Diversity

In a search for a fresh approach to mapping the views and needs of the disabled, BME and LGBT communities of Cumbria, Cumbria Equality Resource Centre Development Workers have turned their hands to becoming film makers.

Since spring 2010 the team has travelled around Cumbria asking people to share their personal and professional views of the county – in front of a camera!

Now in the editing stage, the films will explore the challenges and issues that face these communities while also celebrating the diversity of the region.

CERC Development Worker, Liam Ryan, is currently hard at work putting together a film about how people define the terms ‘equality and diversity' and the CERC team are putting their collective creative heads together to produce a number of films about the disability, BME and LGBT communities.

These films will have many uses; awareness raising, training, group discussions and perhaps will help to identify and support future funding bids.

The CERC team will be meeting soon to plan a premiere for all the people who feature in the film.
