Carers Week 2011 ~ Events

Monday 13 June 2011, 1pm

Group Reiki Session being held at CADAS Barrow Office; a Japanese, therapeutic, energy technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and wellbeing. Reiki is a simple safe natural method of spiritual healing and self improvement. It can also work in conjunction with other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.

What does a Reiki treatment feel like?

This varies from person to person; however feelings of deep relaxation are usually felt in addition to a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and surrounds them. As the Reiki energy encourages you to let go of all tension, anxiety, fear or other negative feelings, a state of peace and wellbeing is experienced. At the end of the treatment you feel refreshed with a more positive, balanced outlook.

Are there any side effects from a Reiki treatment?

Most of the time a person will feel relaxed and uplifted by a Reiki treatment. However sometimes a person will have what is called a "healing crisis” – toxins that have been stored in the body will be released into the blood stream to be filtered by the liver and kidneys and removed from the system. After a treatment it is a good idea to drink more water, eat lighter meals and get more rest as the body is cleansing as part of the healing process.

If you are interested, please call Nik Speirs on 01229 811111 to book your place, niks@cadas.co.uk

Wednesday 15 June 2011, 9am to 3pm

Free Black Box Taster sessions are organised at the CADAS offices located at Stricklandgate House, Kendal. Black Box (Acu-Stimulation) is a safe, simple treatment like acupuncture but with no needles, risk, or pain. It uses gentle pulses which are passed through the body's Acu-Points to stimulate the productions of natural chemicals. Black-Box should be thought of as a detoxification/relaxation therapy, helping to reduce the symptoms of severe stress, stressful emotions, thoughts, feelings and physical aches and pains.
