Cumbria has a history of Black people since 3AD to the present day. To celebrate Black History Month we have two Researchers who have researceh Black History in Cumbria:
Eldridge Eatman-The (Joint) Fastest Man in the World
Eldridge Eatman was a world-record setting African-Canadian sprinter who was born in Fredericton, New Brunswick on the east coast of Canada, in 1882. He spent most of his life in New Brunswick, and sprinted professionally worldwide in the early 1900s, at a time when few black people were able to participate in professional sports.
It's October!
Which means it is time to celebrate Black History Month!
This platform has been used in the UK since 1987 to remind the world about the often-neglected history made by amazing women and men who struggled to overcome structural racism, fought for human rights and contributed to the betterment and safety of this country.

Blessing for the new Carlisle Lake District Airport
THE new Carlisle Lake District Airport has been blessed by the Archdeacon of Carlisle ahead of its first commercial flight in more 25 years.
The Ven Lee Townend was joined by ecumenical colleagues for the interfaith service early this morning on the airport’s runway, just a few hours before the first flight departed.
