BME Peoples Forum: Putting Community Safety on the Agenda in Cumbria

 12th April 2016 from 6-8 pm Penrith, Cumbria

 AWAZ Cumbria is actively facilitating engagement of Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) people and communities to put community safety on the agenda and plan to host a BME Peoples Forum. The majority of the candidates standing for the position of Police and Crime Commissioner in Cumbria have accepted AWAZ invitation and confirmed their participation in the Forum.

 The BME Peoples Forum will be held on Tuesday 12th April 2016 from 6 - 8 pm @ Eden Rural Foyer, Sfere/Old London Road,Penrith, CA11 8ET.

AWAZ Cumbria is a community development organisation which supports and empowers the voices of the Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) people and community across Cumbria.  

The BME Peoples Forum will provide everyone attending an opportunity to know more about the vision and priorities of the Cumbria Police and Crime Commissioner Candidates who will participate in a question and answer session with the members of BME Communities.

 

The Forum will provide an opportunity for both the candidates and the members of BME communities to:

  • Find out what should be the priorities of a Police and Crime Commissioners in Cumbria
  • Discuss how they will be engaging with BME communities in shaping the new Police and Crime Commissioner Plan and,
  • Have a say in setting the agenda to tackle the crime and safety issues affecting the community at local and county level

 

The BME Peoples Forum will be chaired by Mr Peter Foley MBE, Chair, AWAZ Cumbria.

The following candidates have confirmed they will be attending:

Loraine Birchall – Liberal Democrats

Mary Robinson – Independent

Peter McCall –Conservative   

Reg Watson OBE – Labour
