National Diversity Week 02.14

The annual awards give recognition to the outstanding achievements of role models and community organisations.

The National Diversity Awards have opened for nominations this month, giving people the opportunity to nominate their own heroes for recognition.

The black tie event, in association with Microsoft, showcases the work of those who have demonstrated their devotion to enhancing equality, inclusion and diversity in today’s society.

Founder Paul Sesay said: ‘It’s overwhelming to follow the inspiring stories of Britain’s unsung heroes.  Let’s recognize true role models and continue to celebrate our nation’s diversity champions this year’.

The event has received support from top employers and celebrities such as Stephen Fry, Claire Harvey and Sol Campbell.

This year the event will be held in London on 26 September 2014 and hosted by reality TV star Brian Dowling and CBeebies presenter Cerrie Burnell.

‘It is a pleasure to be associated such an inspirational awards ceremony,’ Dowling said.

‘To witness the outstanding work of all the nominees and awards winners is extraordinary. The atmosphere is always incredible and I can’t wait for this year!’

The awards receive thousands of nominations a year in categories including positive role model, community organization, entrepreneur of excellence, diverse company, and lifetime achiever.

People and organizations can be nominated under age, disability, gender, LGBT, faith, race, and religion.
